Recently Google launched its new product, Pixel 4A, I though of understanding the product and sharing my viewpoint with you. Google launched the product almost a month back and it got a lot of attention from blogging and youtube communities. The product looks appealing how does it stand against the value system, let’s see if it does.
Performance
Pixel 4a is not targeting high-end tech consumers and it is a mid-range phone, the phone has a decent processor, Snapdragon 730G, which is a bit outdated now, though it will surely give a decent performance (not compared to Snapdragon 845, 855 or 865 processors), so if you want a great performance, just do not go for it, but it will get the job done and you can play games such as PUBG on medium settings. For hardcore gamers, the phone will not suffice the requirements.
Display and Build Quality
Pixel 4a comes with an AMOLED display, which has good overall display along with good viewing angles, however, it is a 1080 Pixel, display but it will not disappoint you. coming to build quality, 4a is completely made up of plastic, but it looks good and sturdy because of its matt finish. The Phone has a 5.8-inch display, which is compact, which holds really nice in hand. It has a protection of Gorilla Glass 3, which is again an outdated one, but Gorilla Glass 3 performed well in past so, will not complain about it. Overall I liked the design and display of the phone.
Cameras
For Pixel 4a, cameras are the key selling points, it takes the flagship-grade pictures and can compete with the best in the industry (such as iPhone 11 series or Pixel 4A), I will not through numbers for the cameras, but given the price point, it is an excellent job done by Google. Just one thing to notice, the phone does not have ultra-wide lens so if you are looking for that, umm umm, this phone is not for you.
Battery and Software
Pixel 4a is packed with 3140 mAh battery, which as compared with today’s standards does not look good, but because of smaller AMOLED display and stock android software, battery perform decently and it should last a complete day with normal usage, the phone comes with 18W charger, so charging speed will be decent. Coming to the software, nobody can complain it is clean software, packed with good features. You will surely enjoy the software experience, as it is a stock software, google shall provide updates for the next three years (two years of version updates and three for security).
The only concern here is, will this processor work decently after two or three years, as it is already an outdated one mid-range processor (almost a year old), we will have to see and while purchasing keep this in mind.
Value Delivery
Pixel 4a comes with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage (this is the only configuration), the phone does not support 5G, hence if you are looking for 5G phone, then this can not be your phone. It will cost USD 349, which looking at the features seems good (of course not great), there are other options such as Motorola One Fusion+, has the same processor almost stock android experience, will cost lesser than Pixel 4a.
I would still consider Pixel 4a, because of its stock feature and Google’s innovation in its operating systems. Overall the value you are getting using Pixel 4a equalise the price you pay for it, however, the only problem is the longevity, you can give a second thought if you planning to use the phone for long term (3-4 years).
