Recently the United States imposed a ban on Huawei in which any US-bound supplier cannot provide services to Huawei. After the ban google immediately blocked Huawei for providing Google services, however later granted three months extension to complete ongoing projects. Companies such as Intel, Qualcomm, Facebook, etc. also started imposing a ban on Huawei. Huawei at the global stage is a giant and can have its own system for anything, and as per the sources Huawei alreay started working on its mobile phone’s operating system.
Huawei sold millions of devices last year and still continuing the same. If you see Google has a monopoly in the market because Apple does not sell or share its operating system and the only solution is Google if you want to be in the market. Huawei is a giant and can easily build its own operating system and they are already doing the same (Ark OS), once that operating system will be launch in the market it will change the ecosystem, now there will be one more player in the market and lot of companies can leverage the Huawei’s OS.
If Huawei is able to capitalize the development then it will directly hit Google, and Huawei will start getting the market share in terms of software, we already know that Chinese companies are innovating, agile and fast in their software and hardware development. Huawei can take the initial hit (time invested on gaining consumer trust) and capture the market if that happens ,Google and Apple will see a huge hit, because Chinese companies have an advantage of low-cost labor and they can sell their product cheaper than Google and Apple.
Price sensitive countries such as India and most of the Asian countries might accept the Huawei solution and this will be a huge blow for other OEMs. But the main question comes, who is actually losing here, and my pick would-be customers. Millions of customers who are using Honor or Huawei devices are losing and the fight between the US and Huawei is directly impacting users.
I still feel this might be a political move for the trade war victory and the US will lift the ban in the future, because it not only impacting Google, User and other software companies it will also impact companies such as AT&T, Qualcomm, etc. Recently AT&T CEO stated that Huawei’s lack of interoperability in 4G equipment is making it difficult for European carriers to shift to other vendors for 5G equipment, according to a report from Reuters.
What do you think about the ban? Thanks for reading the article 🙂
Nice and being from a finance background I strongly feel the ban is a political move
